This course explains that a patient's history provides the foundation supporting all other elements of the encounter and notes that securing the medical history of a patient takes skill. History taking requires a team effort and includes both technicians and physicians. The successful history taker is compassionate, conversational, and thoughtful.

At the completion of this course, students will have a better understanding of the components of history taking, as well as how to effectively collect this data from patients.

This module will take approximately 60 minutes to complete and consists of 11 pages.
